A little about Dona

I have been a “crafter” for as long as I can remember. My grandmother taught me to spin and weave at a very early age (many of my woven items have my own silk in them). It wasn’t long until my mother taught me to knit, sew and learn about the fascinating silkworm industry. (you always had to check the refrigerator for silkworm eggs!) I also taught art at several schools.

For years, I had a stained glass studio (The Sunshine Stained Glass Co.) where I created custom patterns and stained glass for clients and also taught classes.

I’m especially proud of the work that went into “Flower Garden” we installed to customize a lovely foyer:

I received my diploma from the Institute of Natural Healing in England; which means the natural teas in the website are all home-grown! (examples are lavender, echinacea, and chamomile).
As a retired school teacher, I am always looking for new crafts to create. The list is endless, but here are a variety of items.

I have created: soaps, dream pillows, sachets, trivets, scarves, ear muffs, perfumes, teas, jewelry, woven articles, perfumes, stained glass stepping stones, window sun-catchers, pet items, soup cozies, quilted trivets, tortilla warmers, and potato bag cookers. I always have new items in the works!!

I grow five acres of lavender in Nevada City, Ca. Living there and my love for crafts was the inspiration for the The Lavender Ladies Boutique Website.
